Employee Giving programs are the fastest growing pathway to philanthropy for individual donors. Municipal agencies have offered payroll deduction giving opportunities for city, state, county, and federal employees for many years. The Combined Federal Campaign is one of the oldest, and can be the most cumbersome to navigate. At the same time, corporate, private, and nonprofit employees are giving through programs like United Way, Benevity, EarthShare Oregon, and Black United Fund of Oregon’s upcoming Workplace Giving program. This workshop will offer an overview of payroll deducted employee giving programs, review the benefits of these programs, and also offer strategies to addressing their hurdles - which include navigating their systems, donor engagement and stewardship.
1. Basic understanding of employee giving programs that exist and how to connect with them as nonprofits
2. Strategies for navigating challenges and barriers to participation
3. Strategies to maximize donor relations with employee giving donors
