Description

Retaining your donors is one of the most important goals for any not-for-profit. A base of loyal and happy regular donors not only helps sustain the organization but also fuels the major gift and planned giving pipeline. But most are tapping into only a fraction of stewardship’s power. In this session, we’ll discuss retention, upgrades, and strategies that weave stewardship and “wow” moments into everything you do. You’ll walk away with an action plan, fresh doable ideas, and tons of inspiration and motivation.

Learning Objectives

Participants will understand and gain:
1) The importance of stewardship and the urgency around making time for stewardship strategies.
2) The different elements in a great stewardship program and be able to create an action plan for creating one in their organization.
3) ideas for implementing both broad-based “background” stewardship, as well as more personalized stewardship.

About the Presenter:

Laurel McCombs brings 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector and a passion for the role philanthropy can play in changing the world to her work as a consultant, partner, and trainer. Laurel works closely with clients on a variety of topics, including donor retention, planning, board development and more. In addition to well-received workshops for national organizations, universities, and more, Laurel has presented at the AFP International Conference, CASE-NAIS, and several local professional associations. Prior to joining the Osborne Group, Laurel worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America where she was responsible for the coordination of capacity building resources and support to more than 350 Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the country. Laurel is a graduate of the University of Southern California and lives in Damascus, OR.
